My Philosophy of Physical Education
Physical Education provides students with a learning atmosphere that emphasizes wellness, physical fitness, social and emotional growth, and to encourage students to lead physically active lifestyles. Physical education should be fun and something that students should want to do and want to learn new skills, and I plan on making it a good experience for my students.
In Physical Education there is a standard curriculum that should be met for each individual subject at each grade level in which the school itself accepts responsibility. Besides being taught the standard curriculum, they are also taught to develop intellect. The students should develop their reasoning skills, and being able to be a rational human being. Students should learn how to interact with other students while participating, weather it be cooperating as a team or competitively against one another. They should learn new skills, and work on skills previously obtained so that the students may improve. Besides physical fitness, health and nutrition is another important aspect of physical education that should be taught.
The goals that I will have for my students will be to show them knowledge that they will be able to apply to their own life outside of class and use it the rest of their life. I will want them to set their own goals, improving on a skill or task, such as improving their mile time.
