I am a goal oriented person. I love to run and just be active. I am not someone that can just sit at home all day and "relax" because that would be anything but relaxing for me. This past month I ran the 10k Volkslauf in Bakersfield. It only happens once a year. I have been wanting to do it forever but just kept putting it off. There are different races available. 5k & 10k individual and 5k & 10k team and also a 1 mile course for children. There are about 15 obstacles that you have to go through before you reach the end. I would encourage anyone and everyone to try it! It was an amazing experience!!

This race sounds awesome. I feel that I would love to start getting involved in these types of things, however it seems like most races are only marketed within the small community of runners. I wonder if through modern technology if there could be more effective outreach to more community members.

This race sounds very intense and from the picture it also looks very fun. I have been running all of my life and since I am getting towards the end of my competing track and field career I am looking forward to running longer races like this one.

That race sounds amazing. I am just starting getting back in the swing of things running wise. A few friends and I are going to run a 1/2 marathon in a few months. I don't how I will ever been in enough shape to do so , but I am working on it.

I want to do that race for sure. These types of races are becoming more and more popular, the closest thing I did was a swamp romp back in Hawaii in the military. I am all about events, I will search for it and sign up for next year.

I'm originally from Bakersfield and a lot of my Kinesiology friends run as a team. I have yet to attempt to try it but will be participating next year. It looks very challenging with so many obstacle courses. How many times have you ran the race?

I am relatively new to running in races. I have done two 1/2 marathons in Fresno/Clovis. I have also done smaller ones for "breast cancer" and the "color me rad" races. I am interested in going outside my area like this one in Bakersfield. I would like to expand my horizons by meeting new people in different areas with common interests. Thank you for sharing.

I love the sound of this race, Amie! It sounds similar to the Spartan race, Devil Dash, and Tough Mudder. I ran Spartan last year and really enjoyed it. How do you think the races compare?
